Empowering Healthcare Practitioners for Healthcare Education Roles Evaluation findings from the UK pilot: The Aspirant Educator Masterclass project

This eBook launched an independent evaluation of the Aspirant Educator Masterclass project, which was run from September 2024 to April 2025 and led by BHSCA, NHSE South East, and the University of Surrey. The project aimed to support the development and recruitment of the healthcare educator workforce by addressing existing barriers and equipping aspiring educators with the knowledge, motivation, and tools needed to navigate the educator pathway across clinical and academic settings. The overall hypothesis was that by engaging in the intervention (webinars, masterclasses, or podcast series) healthcare professionals who participated in the intervention would have an increased understanding of educator roles, willingness to apply, and likelihood of flourishing in these roles. The evaluation was structured into three research phases: establishing a baseline, assessing the delivery process, and analysing the intervention’s impact. 57 healthcare professionals participated in the fieldwork by answering pre-intervention and post-intervention questionnaires, and four of them also completed in-depth interviews. This eBook presented the findings from all three phases and highlighted the project’s effectiveness in raising awareness, improving confidence, and inspiring participation in educator roles within healthcare.
