Research & Policy
This section hosts my research and social policy work to transform the way individuals, communities, and institutions respond to harm, inequality and injustice. Rooted in the values of restorative justice, power sharing, fairness, dignity and respect, my research aims to challenge the silent drivers of inequality and inform policy and practice leading to environments where everyone feels safe, valued and heard.
The two cross-cutting themes across my research, policy and campaigning work are restorative justice and human rights. I was educated and trained as a restorative justice practitioner and as a human rights and criminal law barrister. The two together gave me the theoretical and practical context of my approach to research. However, what transformed my work and thinking was my direct work with communities. Whether this is done via the RJ4All Community Centre in London or my international case work, I experience the pain but also hope that we carry when harm and injustice occurs.
The nine research themes reflect my areas of expertise. I write, research, training and campaign around these themes. My work and public speaking are driven only by evidence. I am not attached to any political agendas and I operate as an individual with passion to “do what I can”.
